How BPartners Is Equipping 18 Independent Member Firms with Continuum

BPartners has named Continuum its preferred AI partner for every advisor across its member firms. Here’s what an advisor-owned network choosing AI together says about where independent advice in Canada is heading.

Independent advisors choose their own technology. That’s part of owning your firm: nobody hands you a platform, and nobody makes the call for you. It also means most independents size up AI tools on their own, between client meetings, with nobody to compare notes with.

BPartners was built so advisors don’t have to work things out alone. Today the advisor-owned network named Continuum its preferred AI partner, available to every advisor across its 18 member firms.

How BPartners reached that decision says as much as the decision itself.

Independence, with a room full of peers

BPartners started in October 2021, when two independent firms set out to build a network where advisors share what they know and grow together. As of September 2026 it counts 18 member firms and 25 partners. In mid-2025 its firms reported over $30 million in combined annual revenue and were licensed in six provinces. Advisors own it and people who run firms make its decisions. It isn’t an MGA or a carrier, and every member keeps full ownership of its practice.

Members get what most independents never have: monthly sessions with top-performing peers, study groups on succession and team development, lawyers and accountants who understand advisory, and collective buying power on the technology every firm needs.

That buying power is where Continuum comes in. When BPartners puts a platform in front of members, it’s peers vouching for something they use. BPartners’ own team has run Continuum day to day since August 2026, before any member firm was asked to look at it.

“BPartners exists to prove you can keep full ownership of your firm and still have peers, proven frameworks and shared resources behind you when you need it. Technology is a good test of that. One independent firm can’t vet every AI tool on the market. Having eighteen connected firms comparing notes can. We ran Continuum in select BPartners firms first, saw the time it gave back to advisors after every client meeting, and wanted every member to have the opportunity to work the same way, if they choose. Independent firms moving forward together has paid dividends for all advisors in our network since we launched in 2021. Giving every advisor the same AI platform is just another way we keep that going.” - Vito Catricala, President and Co-Founder, BPartners

What changes inside a member firm

Continuum captures meetings without sending a bot into the call, whether it happens on Zoom, Teams, by phone or across a boardroom table. Client consent is audit-logged, and the advisor stays with the conversation instead of the keyboard.

When the meeting ends, the compliance-ready summary, updated client profile and follow-up tasks are already done, and notes sync to the CRM each firm already uses.

Then there’s the part clients see. Pages turns a conversation into a branded, interactive deliverable: a meeting recap, a proposal, a financial plan. Clients can ask its built-in AI questions, and the advisor sees what was opened before the next meeting. A five-person independent firm doesn’t have a marketing department. With Pages, its follow-through holds up next to the largest firms in the country.

The succession question

Much of BPartners’ work is about protecting what members have built: succession plans, exit strategies, the team that carries a practice forward. That’s also where client context is most exposed.

A CRM record shows a client moved $10,000 into a TFSA. It doesn’t show that the money came from selling shares, or that it’s set aside for a house the client hasn’t mentioned to anyone else. That understanding usually lives in one advisor’s head. When that advisor steps back, the successor inherits the accounts without the knowledge that kept them.

Continuum keeps that context with the firm. It’s captured after every meeting, and the advisor, the associate and the assistant who joins next year can all search it and ask it questions. Firms using Continuum have brought new assistants up to speed in days. For an independent firm planning its next chapter, that belongs in the same conversation as the buy-sell agreement, because context that was never captured can’t be rebuilt later.

Built in Canada, for independents

Canadian advisors adopt technology through their firm, their compliance team and their dealer. Continuum was built here around those realities, for Canadian account structures and the tools advisors here already use. Client data is encrypted and stored in Canada, and the platform is SOC 2 Type II certified.

We don’t think AI should replace an advisor’s judgement. It should give independent firms the leverage that used to belong to the biggest players, and give advisors back the time for the part of the job only a person can do. BPartners has spent five years showing that independence and support can live in the same firm. We’re proud to be part of that with Vito and the whole BPartners network.
